Does anyone really think the addition of a ballroom to the Whitehouse, paid for by private funds, is a bad idea?

Yes it’s a bad idea to let a syphilitic **** tear down a public building to build a grotesque monument to himself paid for by bribes. You stupid ****.

Hmmm...OK...does anyone have a mature and rational opinion of this ballroom build?

It's like him... Bull, uncompromised, unauthorized, disdainful of the elite.

We have bigger problems....

Is it really being paid for privately and, if so, is that really how such projects should be paid for? People don't just give their money for nothing. There has to be some quid pro quo involved.

I couldn't care less if he tore down the whole White House, but I think it's a bad precedent to get oligarchs to fund government institutions like that. If they have so much money to burn, tax it and pay for it that way.

An interesting point. Let's take this idea a step further.

Let's say you own a large US corporation. Trump comes to you and says, "OK Blubber...I need a $100 million "donation" from you to help pay for a new ballroom at the Whitehouse. Fork it over or I'll raise your corporate taxes to pay for it."

As a corporate owner, you know that if you "fork it over", you can declare it all as a donation and write a good portion off and get a tax credit. Or...you can say "No" and move your accounts and head offices offshore. Which you would have to do in order to answer to your stock holders and board of directors.

Which do you choose to do?

I thought the tariff taxes prevented them from moving anything offshore.

That's called soliciting a bribe and is ground for impeachment according to Article II, Section 4 of the United States Constitution.

At this point, Trump can do what he wants, and the whole GOP are terrified of him. Only death will solve this problem.  It may come sooner than we think.

You'd have a Hell of a time proving that.

Not really. Trump solicits bribe openly all the time.

BTW my working theory on the ballroom and why he's making it such a priority is it's actually gonna be a mausoleum.
